New BAFTA podcast launches Monday 13th August

I’ve been working on a pilot for a series exploring the BAFTA archive, which showcases training events and discussion panels on a whole range of subjects including TV commissioning to video game sound design.

It all started as a natter about a perplexing problem; why do some events hosted on BAFTA Guru have such fluctuating download figures? Some events get thousands, others only a couple of hundred.

So how do we point people to all this amazing (and useful) training content? I had an idea and pitched it there and then.

The podcast is a monthly discussion programme about the new additions to the archive. It’s a shop window for media professionals, interested not just in their particular field but all disciplines from TV to film to video games.

The pilot is hosted by BAFTA’s own Dave Green, one of the events team with years of experience in production. It focuses on the recent Rushes Soho Shorts Film Festival, with talks on how to make the perfect pitch to a producer, the do’s and don’ts of working with producers, directors and writers and how to get your first film distribution deal.
